im wondering what the normal expense is to hire a patent attorney from beginning to end, assuming the idea i give to him is indeed patentable. i would be able to show up with at least schematics of a prototype as well as details and other info. about the patentable idea. i have also done a rudimentary search of the databases and have not found anything close to the ideas i have. any and all help would be great, thanks!

I am not sure what to think. The attorney already did the search and says he thinks it would be worthwhile to go ahead and begin the process of filing for an application. He also told me about an idea he had and he suggests he write up the application with his idea included.
I was just wondering if this is something patent attorneys normally do, and if so why? If he adds an idea to my application and I accept it do I have to pay him for the use of his idea?
